ABOUT US

The Burns Centre is established at the heritage-protected building Jubilee Block, Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, under the patronage of a philanthropic group “FRIENDS OF BURNS CENTRE – Patient Welfare Society” in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Government of Sindh, to operate according to international standards. It is also a model project of Public – Private Partnership.

The Honorable Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, inaugurated the Burns Centre on Monday 13, December, 2004.

Developing the Burns Centre was by no means less than a Herculean task. The 120 year Jubilee Block building which houses the Burns Centre, an exceedingly beautiful architectural marvel of yore – of late in a neglected and dilapidated state and adjudged to be brought down but protected by heritage laws; was restored to its original grandeur, inch by inch; unmindful of the expense. An annex was annexed to provide for administrative facilities.

The second stage commenced with lacing the centre with top-of-the-line medical equipment’s especially required for the treatment of burns, on the voluntary advice of experts of respective fields.

After painstaking efforts a unique facility emerged on the medical map of Pakistan.

All this would not have been possible without the blessings of Allah and generous support of individual donors and NGOs, who do not hesitate to help us in the pursuit of our noble cause.
